Nashville Cleanup Effort

May 22, 2010

Tim is back from 3 days of clean up in Nashville.  The place actually looks like a war zone.  Can you imagine piles of debris about 8 feet tall and about 4 to 5 miles long ?  I actually stopped counting each day after I wheeled 100 wheelbarrows  each day, across the parking lot and up a small hill. 
 
8 hours of wheeling debris each day with only a lunch break. Everyday was exactly the same.  We did not stop. 
According to one of the group leaders, We actually moved about 40 tons of debris in 3 days, all by wheelbarrow and shovel.  I will post the pictures. 
 
I will be on the NBC National news Monday, ( Brian Williams will cover the story ) ,  as I found some gold coins that had been lost in the cleanup effort.  Wouldn't you know it , I finally struck gold and then had to give it back......lolol   
The van load of guys that went with me said they had never experienced anything like it . 
 
Residents were coming out of the houses to thank us while crying uncontrollably.  It was so sad. People were driving down the streets blowing the horn and shouting,  " Thanks for coming and helping us , GOD bless you !! "  These people were so sincere.....Americans came to help from every where in the U.S. , as far as Oregon.  I was proud to work with them. 
 
I know that my contribution to the effort seemed so small compared to the enormous damage that was caused.  It was almost like spitting on a forest fire,  but I did what I thought GOD would have me do and I DID go to the aid of my fellow AMERICANS.  
 
This was a very heart warming and rewarding experience for me,  I slept real good last night !!! ...lol
They have certainly have been there for me ...........( There is probably a song in this somewhere....lol )

Tim and Tammy donate a D 10 WASHBURN   guitar to WCYK  99.7            ( www.country997.com ) for a St. Judes fund raiser.  The Guitar ended up bringing $1800.oo to help the children.  Tim, along with the radio station had several country SUPER STARS autograph the guitar.   Another will be donated by Tim and Tammy to be auctioned off later this year for the children at UVA hospital in Charlottesville.  Keep in touch.  Pictured above L to R, Tim, Randy Smith, Angie Ward and Pam Garrison.

Tim and Tammy send 500 gallons of bottled water to the flood and hurricane victims and with the help of two prayer partners they doubled it to 1000 gallons.

Gone but never forgotten !!!!!!.

 

Tim's Christmas program this year was a great sucess and Tim and all his concerned friends has now given over $ 300,000.oo to local needy children.  He raises the money and then sets a shopping spree, and sometimes watches about 450 children in need go shopping ( Go to "KIDS" at the left for the whole story)  !!!!!

 

Tim went to # 19 in Europe !!!!!!

" GOODBYE DALE "

Tim Spears, Nashville recording artist and song writer, has just came from Nashville where he wrote and sang a tribute song to the late and great Dale Earnhardt, "GOODBYE DALE" . It seems as if this song has really struck a nerve with country and Earnhardt fans. On the first day of release locally, the CD sold out.

The song tells about the softer side of Dale as well as the competitive
nature that he possessed. The best part seems to be, somewhere in the final part of the song, NASCAR and Earnhardt fans truly have a chance to say goodbye.

The music has a very special feel and was played by the " STRAYHORNS", Alan Jackson's band. It was recorded in a small studio owned by Danny Groah, Alan's lead guitarist.

Tim would also like to extend sympathy to the Earnhardt family, ( especially Teresa Earnhardt and Dale, Jr. )  and he said in an interview " Not only have we lost a great man and sportsman, but we have lost the spark plug of NASCAR."

"Goodbye Dale" is one of  8 songs on this special CD and cassette.  All the music is written  and sung by Tim Spears.
